OUR APPROACH

Start with the problem. Build around women’s realities.

Climate adaptation works best when solutions respond to how women actually live and work. For What Comes begins by understanding the problem, what is preventing adaptation, and what it will take to move a practical response forward.

HOW WE WORK

From identifying the challenge to scaling what works.

01

Identify the problem

Understand how climate risks affect women’s health, livelihoods, income, and ability to adapt—and where existing systems are falling short.

02

Find the right partners

Bring together women-led and local organizations, technical experts, researchers, public institutions, and others who can help address the problem.

03

Mobilize resources

Connect strong ideas and local priorities with the funding, technical support, and other resources needed to move forward.

04

Implement practical solutions

Help turn promising approaches into programs, tools, and support that women can actually use in their daily lives.

05

Learn and adapt

Use evidence and implementation experience to understand what is working, what is not, and what should change.

06

Scale what works

Help effective approaches reach more women, communities, and places facing similar climate risks.

We do not begin with a predetermined intervention.

The right response might involve better information, financial protection, changes to the physical environment, training, technology, public policy, new partnerships—or a combination of approaches.

Our role is to start with the problem and help assemble the pieces needed to solve it.

No single organization can build climate resilience alone.

Women and communities

Ground the work in lived experience and local priorities.

Local organizations

Bring trusted relationships, context, and implementation capacity.

Technical experts

Help identify, adapt, and test practical solutions.

Funders and institutions

Provide resources and pathways for implementation and scale.

Extreme heat is our first application of this approach.

Heat is already affecting health, income, and the ability to work safely. We are building an initial portfolio around practical heat resilience while keeping the broader model applicable to other climate risks.

For what comes next.
